Our Story
October 28, 1936
C.A. Wines & Harold Blood founded Airtec Metal Products Company in a small garage located on a side street off of West Jefferson in Detroit, Michigan, manufacturing residential steel storm sash and screens.
1940's
Despite the lean years of World War II, Airtec was able to expand its product line to include screens, storm sash, and combination screens-and-guards for all types of steel and wood windows. In 1946, Airtec constructed its first building on Seven Mile Road in Detroit. Airtec's team enjoyed the newfound amenities that came with this facility, like a restroom - which previously did not exist in the old garage.
1956
Harold Blood left the partnership, and Airtec became incorporated.
1970-2000
As the 1970s came along, Airtec had solidified itself as a distributor with the addition of hollow metal doors, frames, hardware, and building specialties to its product mix. By the turn of the century, Airtec became a leader in the industry as one of the top commercial hollow metal suppliers in the nation.
2010-PRESENT
By 2010, Airtec for the most part left hollow metal distribution, pivoting to a focus on custom fabrication. With this was the birth of Airtec's industrial and architectural divisions, allowing Airtec to provide separate product offerings to the construction and other specialized industries. Today, Airtec Corporation is still family-owned, led by the 3rd and 4th generations, and serving the industrial, architectural, and construction industries.
